Food Trucks vs. Downtown

The San Diego Union-Tribune published a very interesting article about the issues arising between downtown restaurants and food truck gatherings. Two downtown gatherings have recently been organized and are being criticized by businesses in the area. This article is an essential read if you are a food truck fan! Check it out here.

“How do I Start a Food Truck?”

Can you give me advice on how to open a food truck?
What permits do I need?
Where can I park?

We often get questions like these at sdfoodtrucks.com, but we can’t really offer much help since we don’t own a truck ourselves.

But the other day I discovered some resources that can help people who want to get into the mobile food game.

Food Truck Finds can help you write a food truck business plan quickly and painlessly.

And there are two online courses: Street Food University and The Food Truck Truth. Here’s more about them:

Street Food University includes 16 video lessons on:

  • How to write a food truck business plan
  • Where to source ingredients to save money
  • Menu planning
  • Licensing and Regulations
  • Buying a truck
  • Marketing and Promotions
  • Hiring employees
  • Where to get funding

The Food Truck Truth is a PDF book including chapters on:

  • Your Concept & Business Plan
  • Acquisition, Design & Build-out of your truck
  • Permits, Licensing & Regulations
  • Operations & Logistics
  • Branding & Social Media

I would love to hear from anyone who has used these resources and what you thought of them. Please email me at sdfoodtrucks at gmail.com and let me know if they were helpful!
