There has been a lot of negative response to the $10 ticket price on the SDFT Facebook page. Please keep in mind you can buy tickets at the discounted price above. And please note that this San Diego Food Trucks blog is not associated with the organization of this event.
THanks for the info!!!
Just got home from event. I thought what a great idea for Fathers day. Ended up waiting in separate lines for OVER 1 hour. Half the food that was given, was not what originally ordered. I would rate this a D or give it only 1 Star. There were less than. 20 trucks , I think there was 16. The lines were waaaay took long. I was really hoping that it would have been great, it just wasn’t.
I also went by the event for a couple hours and I disagree w/Ms.Jackson. Although there were less trucks than originall advertised, there were still plenty of them and a good variety.
I really thought it was fun. They had music, the weather was nice, the lines were exactly as I expected them to be. This is NOT fast food. You wait to order and then you wait for your food. Assuming you are with other people you spend the waiting time chatting, playing catch, sitting in the sun… People are too used to instant gratification nowadays. I was alone but I had my Kindle and a blanket and enjoyed myself. Good food!! (I had Two for the Road turkey/brie melt YUM, and pork sliders from SuperQ also YUM)
I went yesterday and had a mixed bag:
The venue was great, close to the water, with perfect temperatures.
The list of trucks was significantly shorter than 35. I counted 17.
At 2 PM, the lines were getting significant, and we stopped our pattern of line-up, order, eat, and repeat, and proceeded to eat in-line.
We had one missed order, which was promptly corrected, and one dish that was over-salted, but otherwise the food was good.
The advertising for the even needed a fair bit of work, as people were confused about the start time (was it noon, or was it 1 PM, or what?), whether they could pay at the door (not until 3 PM it turned out), and various other factors.
The entry fee was a bit off-putting, especially since it didn’t provide any vouchers or other immediate value (we did not use the restrooms, nor want the music, though the excess trash-receptacles throughout were well-used). Still, I can understand the need to pay for all of that.
I agree pretty much with all of Bob’s comments but would add that in all the trash receptacles, there was no option for recycling.
