FOUR, count ’em, FOUR truck gatherings are taking place in the San Diego area on Friday.
Lunchtime:
Rancho Bernardo. Tabe BBQ, Crazy Wheel, Two for the Road & Mad Maui will be at the RBCPC Preschool Craft Fair serving food from 8am-2pm. More info here.
Dinner:
57 Degrees’ Third Friday Food Truck Extravaganza. More info here. Begins at 5pm at 57 Degrees Wine Bar. $2 entry fee. According to 57 Degrees’ website, the following trucks are scheduled: Chop Sooey, Mangia Mangia Mobile, Tabe BBQ, The Gathering Spot Bistrotruck, Two for the Road, Pierogitruck, Food Farm, Operacaffe Mobile, CurioCity, Eat at Recess, Chubby’s Food Truck.
La Mesa Friday Food Fest. More details here. Scheduled trucks include Devilicious, Super Q, Delicioso, Sweet Treats, and The Gooch Truck. 6-9pm on the corner of Palm and Allison. No entry fee. This is a recurring weekly event that started last Friday.
Rancho Peñasquitos. Sunset Hills Elementary at 9291 Oviedo Street, 92129 from 5-730, Mad Maui BBQ, Groggy’s and Kam Shave Ice for a Halloween Carnival.
Westfield UTC is undergoing a huge revitalization over the next 12 months. Construction has begun and they are hard at work on the improvements. However, they have had to close their food court temporarily during renovations. In order to meet the dining needs of their hungry shoppers, the mall is bringing in local San Diego food trucks for the next several weeks!
Starting Monday, Oct 10, they will have a variety of delicious food trucks on site for shoppers and San Diego residents to enjoy! Here are some details about the event:
Food Trucks will be located at The Circle near Sports Chalet
Starting Monday, Oct 10, they will be on-site Monday-Friday from 11 am to 2 pm
The food truck event is planned for several weeks, ending after Christmas once the food court is open
The owners of KalbiQ & Devilicious have just announced that they are morphing KalbiQ into a second Devilicious truck! See the pic of the new truck here (from KalbiQ’s Facebook page).
Tune in to the Food Network’s second season of America’s Great Food Truck Race to see local truck Devilicious vying for the title! If you search hard enough in the Twittersphere and blogverse, you can figure out who won (or at least who was in the final) but I’m not going to spoil it for anyone. GO DEVILICIOUS!!!

Purchase certain dishes from select food trucks in the month of August and they will donate $1 to the Food 4 Kids Backpack Program. The program provides weekend food chronically hungry elementary school children. Currently the Food Bank serves 800 children in 22 schools.
